Virtual Agape Meal

Virtual Gethsemane Watch begins at 7PM

Although we will not be gathering in St. Matthew’s Parlor as in years past, we will hold a Maundy Thursday Agape Meal via Zoom, beginning at 6:00PM.

The menu is intentionally simple and sparse. More important than what is on our plates, is what lies within our hearts as we gather together within the Spirit of God on this ancient, holy occasion. You might take this opportunity to support one of our local restaurants, businesses or supermarkets by ordering a take-out meal or picking up some prepared items, like bread, cheese, veggies, pasta, or soup, but do err on keeping it simple.

The evening format will be ceremonious, yet relaxed, with words of welcome, blessings, candle lightings (have a candle at hand), scripture readings, brief reflections, all interspersed by holy silence. The evening marks the ancient anniversary of when the Israelites escaped from captivity in Egypt, as well as the evening Jesus was arrested and taken into custody following the last meal, a Passover meal, shared with his friends.
