Live Online Ash Wednesday Service @ 12 NOON on 2.17.21

The season of Lent wisely urges us to loosen our grip on that which is passing in favor of that which endures.

The Imposition of Ashes calls attention to our mortality in startling, disturbing fashion with the words, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

Although COVID-19 restrictions prohibit an in-person Ash Wednesday service this year at Ascension Memorial Church, this ancient practice of willfully tasting our mortality continues.

Following the noonday service, blessed ashes (in individual packets) will be available on the steps of the church for worshipers to take home and self-impose.

These are odd times requiring odd alternatives to our practice of faith, but enabling us to hold steady our course through these uncharted waters.
