High School Youth Group

The Ascension Memorial Church High School Youth Program is comprised of and led by high school youth from the Ascension community, their friends, with support and guidance from several adult advisors. The group gathers regularly to share friendship, meals, conversation, community service projects, recreational activities, fundraising events, overnight adventures, and the planning and participation in annual, week-long, out-of-town service projects. This is a group of individuals who share in common, despite a diversity of differences – a willing commitment to having fun, practicing kindness, and making a positive difference.

Over the last few years, members joined with other youth and adults from neighboring parishes for service project trips to Navajoland, New Mexico.  These well-planned outings supported by funding grants from our diocese give participants the opportunity to be of service, for example, in building fences, stocking food pantries, creating an outdoor labyrinth, visiting historic sites, joining Navajo Episcopalians in their worship, creating friendships, and learning about the rich Navajo culture.
