The program begins with an overview of the religion and history of Islam, especially in America since colonial times. Following hearty hors d’oeuvres at 6:15 p.n., the program will continue at 7 p.m. with a Q and A session.

As part of a continuing series of community events celebrating its 150th Anniversary, Ascension Memorial Church will host an ecumenical event on tolerance, understanding, and interfaith dialogue. “Ask a Muslim Anything” features noted journalist and educator Robert Azzi.

Mr. Azzi will speak about what it is like to be a Muslim in America. During the discussion, he will answer questions about the beliefs and identify of the Muslim people with the hope of reducing misunderstandings between people of different faiths.

Robert Azzi is a resident of New Hampshire. He has lived and travelled extensively in the Middle East. At Harvard University, Mr. Azzi was a Nieman Fellow in Journalism and a member of the Leadership Council of the Harvard Divinity School. He also was an advisor to the Fletcher School on Islam and Southwest Asia at Tufts University. Currently, he serves on the Board of the ACLU of New Hampsure. As a photo journalist, hs work has appeared in Life, Time, Newsweek, National Geographic, and Fortune.
